What’s In It For Me?

The most common question that goes through the mind of the person you are communicating with is, “What’s in it for me?”. Other similar questions tossing around in their head are, “What should I do with this information?”, “How can I assist her?”, and “Why is she telling me this?”.

Your job in communicating to someone is to answer these questions in advance. A great way to do this is to use the word “because”. As soon as you use this word, their mind will issue a sign of relief and start listening more fully instead of trying to figure out why you are saying what you’re saying.

The word “because” is a magic word that will help you get your point across and help your audience to connect with you. It may even win them to your way of thinking.

Use because; because it works!
