Enough is Enough

silouhette day skyHow do you know when you have reached your limit? How do you know when to stop, bless it and move on? How do you know when something good is good enough?

These are not easy questions to answer, and indeed the right answer for you may not be the right answer for someone else.  For example, your image can always be changed or improved. Relationships can continue on indefinitely or they can end at any time. Projects can be extended infinitum.

So how do you know when to stop or move on?

A good rule of thumb to decide when enough is enough is to go within. Ask yourself the simple questions: How does this feel? Is it over? Am I done? Is it good enough? Does this still serve me? Is this helpful and positive? When you ask these questions and your answer leaves you feeling positive and at ease, or relieved and relaxed, then you know you are complete.  If you feel any sort of angst or incompletion, then there is more for you to do, accomplish or garner from staying with it.

Sometimes, especially with a project, you may find yourself in the mode of perfectionism. You keep hanging on because you fear what letting go will mean. Will you be judged by others who say you could have done more or better? Will there be a mistake or something you missed? In all probability, there will always be something that could be better… the real question is, is it good enough for its intended purpose. Most likely, if you’re at the point where you’re asking this question, you’ve probably gotten it to the point where you’re ready to let go and move on. The key is to listen to your gut, your heart, your inner voice…

Listen and follow!

Of course, this same rule of thumb – going within – extends to every area of your life equally as well. It works for decisions about business, family, career, spirituality, wellness, discipline… you name it! As you become more familiar and listen to your guidance from within, you will more easily recognize when good enough is not only good enough… it is truly GOOD!

Now, that’s Powerful!
