Do you ever feel a need to shake things up? You know… wondering if you’re on the right track, asking yourself questions like is there something more or better suited for me than what I’m doing right now?” or “is this really what life is all about?”
I know for me I have had several such times of introspection over the course of my adult life, and especially regarding my entrepreneurial life. There are times that I’ve asked myself these questions and I get a resounding Yes Sue keep on going and things work out great. Other times, I get a No Sue and so I make some changes. Either way…
I’ve found it’s a feeling game.
I use the word game because that’s how I often view life. It’s a game with lots of moving parts, individual and group strategies, and many paths that lead to many different ends. The big difference with the game of life is that it doesn’t really end, because every time I reach an “end” and whether I’ve won or lost, I get a chance to start a new game.
And the whole notion of winning or losing is a matter of perspective anyway – winning means it feels good and perhaps worked out the way I thought it would (and oftentimes even better than I could have imagined) OR losing means it didn’t work out the way I thought it would, doesn’t necessarily feel good, and I get some lessons from it. So my perspective is that either way I’ve won… because I get a fresh start.
How do I know when to make changes?
Again, it’s a feeling game. I’ve created some guidelines and rituals to stay in touch with my inner knowing and keep myself on track for what I believe is my highest and best good. I stay in touch with my gut and my heart, so I can feel my way through and take actions along the way that are in alignment with my highest values.
Above all, I choose to honor my inner wisdom.
Look, only you know what’s best for you, and only I know what’s best for me. Friends and family often have our best interest at heart, but they also bring their own issues, understandings, and sometimes their own agenda to the game – that’s why I know I must keep my lines open for Divine and inner guidance (and by the way, I know that these are the same thing), and I must listen to my own inner voice.
The key is to ask and listen. Ask for guidance and wisdom. Listen for answers, clear cut paths, and nuances. They will come. They always do. And not only do they come… they come in perfect timing and Divine order. And when they do, I’m prepared to shake it up!
Follow your heart, baby! I know I’m following mine.
