I don’t know if anyone else started to sing when you saw this headline, but I know that the old jingle from a McDonald’s commercial from the 70’s started playing in head as I was typing it. (See commercial)
Now, I don’t have any intentions of going to McDonald’s and I don’t recommend that you go either, but the idea is the same…
You Deserve a Break
It’s come to my attention in the midst of my own busyness and from talking with my friends and family, and from following the activity on facebook, that we are as a whole an over-worked, over-scheduled, and under-relaxed society. Everywhere we look we see people running around like crazy, bags under their eyes, nodding off on trains, and generally doing stuff ALL the time.
I even hear people saying they schedule themselves so they stay busy, in many cases so they don’t allow themselves time to think about things that might be upsetting to them. And although I understand this to a degree, I also know the value of taking a break.
Not Only do You DESERVE a Break – You NEED One
When you give yourself a break so many good things happen. Your body gets to recover so you feel better, your brain gets to rest so it will work more efficiently, and your whole psyche, emotional body, and your heart space can relax and radiate from the energy of love and peace. All of this happens rather quickly (if you let it) and it replaces the over-taxed, over-burdened, over-whelmed self you have allowed yourself to become.
There’s No Prize for being the Busiest
So, give yourself a break. Build some ‘me-time’ into your schedule. Put your phone on mute, and for goodness sake step away from your desk. Open the windows, or better yet, open the door and step outside. Breathe in some fresh air. Take a walk. Take a nap. Watch a funny movie. Do whatever it is that makes your heart sing. And be sure to focus on what you love, who you love, and what’s most important to you. Find the ‘feel-good’ and live in this space – right now!
I invite you to share in the lessons I’ve learned over the years by reading my new book, Powerful Intention Everyday Gratitude Book II. It is a daily guide for living with intention and gratitude – and for feeling good! Visit my website for details: www.SueUrda.com Enjoy!
